Fantastic Beasts Cover Redesign
This project was a redesign of the cover of the popular novel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This project focused primarily on capturing the theme of magic and the plot of the story through illustration. The aim for this redesign was create a cover that would spark interest in readers ranging from teens to young adults and plays into a more comical illustration style that is found commonly in Japanese manga.
Sketches
These are sketches of possible compositions as well as a sketch of the final chosen composition. I went through a few different ideas and concepts of how I wanted to proceed with the cover and ended up choosing one where I could highlight the chaotic aspect of the storyline.
Final Mockups
The final composition changes slightly from the sketches with the swirl being removed and changed out for stripes because it took too much away from the type. Aside from the background, the main elements were just refined and adjusted to better fit the layout of the cover.
